With both April and Spring arriving in Vancouver, it’s time to start thinking about the Riptide home schedule. The ‘Tide will once again be hosting AUDL games at Swangard Stadium on the Burnaby/Vancouver border, and we look forward to the push we get from our home town fans.
The home season starts on April 22nd with our usual 6pm start when we host our I-5 rivals the Seattle Cascades. This will be a key game in what is sure to be a heated race for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
April 29th brings Ultimate Day in Vancouver. The Riptide will be there both at the marketing expo and outside helping run clinics, and that evening we will be hosting the San Jose Spiders for their only trip to Vancouver in 2017.
On May 13th the Riptide welcome San Diego to Swangard, and then due to a quirk of the schedule the Growlers will return for another tilt on June 3rd. Just so they don’t get bored with our city, the June 3rd game will be held at the South Surrey Athletic Park in conjunction with Flower Bowl.
June 17th will see the return of the Seattle Cascades as well as a return to Swangard, then on June 24th the LA Aviators come to town. For this game the Riptide will be inviting all the junior players participating in the Vancouver Ultimate League’s Misfit Cup, which is taking place across the road from the stadium at Burnaby Lake Park. That will be a fun and noisy game to attend.
The Riptide’s final home game of the 2017 season is on July 23rd vs. the San Francisco FlameThrowers. This will be the first Sunday game for our team, and a new day means a new start time, with this game’s first pull at 2 pm. You won’t want to miss this one as it will be your one chance this year to see the legendary Beau Kittredge tear it up at Swangard.
We are looking forward to a fantastic season of ultimate, and we hope to see many of you out at Swangard this season. Season and Single Game tickets can be purchased here.
